We are crazy about chocolate, serious about people; five kind of people (our own team, the cocoa farmer, the consumer, the customer and the supplier). We understand the causes of slavery in the cocoa industry and we have a strong belief these can and have to be solved by the chocolate industry itself. So we show the chocolate industry it can be done and in a commercially successful and profitable manner. Achieving a significant share of the chocolate market in the USA is a critical step on our roadmap to slave-free chocolate. It will be serious hard work, but we will have fun along the way.

Responsibilities Below the scope and main responsibilities of this role. Won’t be fully exhaustive but will cover the 5 most important areas.

Area Responsibilities

  • Develop, hire and assess talent
  • Build and manage the US team that creates real impact in a professional and fun work environment
  • Embody, promote and protect Tony’s values in the US team
  • Cascade company communications

Business Strategy and Business Planning

  • Develop business strategy and concrete multi-year business planning for the US market for all areas (sales, marketing, finance, operations, HR).
  • Liaison with HQ senior management in the Netherlands to align US strategies, policies and processes with overall strategies, policies and processes if needed
  • Monitor and communicate business performance to all stakeholders

Sales and New Business Development

  • Direct sales growth and activities in the USA
  • Develop objectives for sales and identify and solidify new business opportunities
  • Maintain key customer relationships (multi-level sales approach)

Finance and Operations

  • Ensure the customer logistics, stock levels, customer services and order fulfillment processes are geared to the steep volume growth aimed for in the business planning
  • Oversee the financial forecasting and performance reporting process
  • End-responsible for the US inc. Planning & Control (incl. cash flow planning, debtor control etc).

Presence and Storytelling

  • Spokesperson of Tony’s Chocolonely in the USA
  • Ensure the paradigm shifting momentum in the US consumer market to tell Tony’s story and kick off the steep business growth aimed for is effectively capitalized by sales, marketing and communications
Job Requirements

Required talents & experience You have the following skills, experience, education, and characteristics

  • Feel a clear fit with Tony’s culture, values and mission and have a drive to create real impact
  • At least 5 year’s experience in have the top sales management position within a company of 25 or more employees
  • Has established contacts and relationships with retailers within the National and Grocery Classes of Trade
  • Has a proven track record in new business development
  • Able to communicate with seniority across all levels of an organization
  • Outstanding selling abilities with excellent interpersonal management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or comparable work experience
  • Willing to travel up to 50% of time
  • Stress-resilient, a positive attitude, and fun to work with
