Job Description

The Director of Operations reports directly to the Founder & CEO and is responsible for daily operations at the production and plant levels. The Director works closely with the Plant Manager and production team to ensure product is made to spec and that the plant is operating optimally. We are looking for someone who has the skills to scale up our operations as we grow from a local to a national product, and maintain the unmatched quality of our product in the process. 


Team Management- Driving production team to deliver results on time. Motivate them and keep them working as a team, provide incentives and rewards for good work. Come up with team events and lead weekly production team meetings.


Quality Control- Performing QC checks using sensory analysis and sending off samples for laboratory testing.


Food Safety- Implementing HACCP in our facility and getting the team fully involved. Making sure that HACCP logs are being updated correctly on a daily basis.


Hiring and training new team members- Maintaining employee review schedule and reviewing employees annually and on an as-needed basis. Writing employee memos and recording in employee files any promotion or disciplinary action.  Dismissal of employees that are underperforming or in violation of code of conduct. Maintaining high standards of employee conduct and maintaining collaborative company culture.


Organization- Responsible for overseeing inventory and ordering as well as production planning and scheduling. Implementation of inventory management and plant operations software would be a big plus.


Product Development- Sourcing, research, development, testing, dealing with consultants. Cost analysis, working with other team members to get them the information they need to run sales, marketing, business development, etc. 

Job Requirements

HACCP Certification or HACCP training.

  • Other food safety training or certifications a plus.
  • If you have written a HACCP plan that is a huge plus.
  • Operations experience.
  • Management experience.
  • Food manufacturing experience, working in a plant or production facility.
  • Dairy industry experience a plus, or work with fluid products.
  • Great references.
  • Scaling-up operations a plus.


  • Ability to multitask and thrive under pressure.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Friendly and amicable, works well with others to get results.
  • Ready to grow with a young startup, and able to deal with the complex challenges associated with operations under limited resources.
  • Attention to detail. Technically savvy and resourceful.
  • Well spoken and polished, able to deal with all personality types professionally.
