Job Description

This Bar Saves Lives (TBSL) is looking for a Product Development and Food Scientist! 

  • This role will be responsible for leading the company’s new Product & Research Development as we expand and diversify our product line.
  • This role will interact with the executive, marketing, and technical teams to translate ideation concepts and manifest them to shelf.
  • The scope for this role will include the development of new products, maintenance of current products, along with continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.

What you’ll do...

  • Hit the ground running and innovate product development for 2018 and blaze a trail for the future.
  • Develop an innovation strategy, in collaboration and consultation with the Founders, CEO, and Marketing team.
  • Partner with the Sales and Operations team to make sure products are commercialized and transitioned into sales channels seamlessly.
  • Create and implement tools and processes to maintain an innovative culture within product development and operations team.
  • Ensure critical corporate initiatives are prioritized and resourced appropriately
  • Develop and drive the innovation and product management team and TBSL portfolio.
  • Have project contingency plans to address possible risks and roadblocks in the launch process.
  • Accountable for ensuring the product development process is followed with discipline and deliverables are met on time, within budget, and of the highest quality.
  • Evaluate all product project plans & deliverables at the feasibility stage, and make business recommendation for go, no-go, or revamp.
  • Support Operations in the selection process of new manufacturing partners, and throughout the on-boarding process of selected partners, and in continuous improvement initiatives, by prioritizing workload and providing guidance to team members
  • Support Quality and Procurement in quality-led & cost reduction initiatives.
  • Accountable for sourcing ingredients and suppliers that meet product certification, food safety and quality assurance requirements.
  • Ownership mindset and consistent delivery on commitments.
  • Maturity in leadership and coaching on strategy, planning and deriving/acting on insights from data.
Job Requirements
  • Location flexible
  • 3-5 years of research/product development experience within the CPG food and dietary supplement industry, with a foundational understanding of being on the cutting edge of innovation.
  • Solid experience working with co-manufacturing partners and the complexities that can come with this relationship.
  • Proven track record of successful product launches developed.
  • A partnership and relationship-based approach to working across our organization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Travel 40%-60% required.
  • B.S. required (M.S. preferred).

Extra credit:

  • Product development experience in the non-bar CPG food channels.
  • Team leadership or Management experience preferred.
